Para Anchor

We all think about our ground anchor but few of us give enough thought to our sea anchor.

A sea anchor is way of anchoring our vessel when we can not touch the ground. This can be handy when waiting for daylight to enter a tricky harbour, holding station against a headwind or as a storm survival technique. All boats have a couple of ground anchors and their use is one of the first sea skills we learn but the sea anchor is used by a few blue water sailors and fishermen. I believe all cruising yachts should carry and practice the use of a sea anchor. Please see the world of information at Victor Shane's Drag Device Database http://dragdevicedb.com/
